Department of Athletics has an immediate opening for the position of Head Men’s Basketball Coach.  Qualifications:  The applicant must have extensive collegiate and/or professional background in coaching basketball.  Division I coaching experience preferred.  Excellent written, interpersonal and oral communication skills required.  Knowledge of NCAA rules and interpretations preferred.  A Master degree is required.  Responsibilities:  Develop and maintain an effective and competitive intercollegiate basketball program through recruitment of qualified student-athletes and successful coaching those individuals.  Ensure compliance with NCAA, Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), Alcorn State University, and the Department of Athletics guidelines, policies, and procedures.  Secure external funds an in kind to further enhance the Department of Athletics.  Provide leadership and instruction in personal matters, when appropriate.  Monitor the eligibility status and promote the academic progress of student-athletes.  Schedule and conduct regular practice sessions as permitted by the NCAA rules and regulations.  Ensure that team travel arrangements are in compliance with the University rules and regulations.  Supervise assistant coaches, part-time coaches, graduate assistants and other support staff as appropriate to ensure their compliance with applicable rules, policies, and procedures.  Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.  Application:  Submit letter of interest, resume’, official transcript(s) and three letters of recommendation to:
