Braves and Lady Braves Cross Country Place High at USM

HATTIESBURG, MS --The Alcorn State Men's and Women's Cross Country teams participated in the USM Screamin' 5K Festival yesterday morning.  It was the first time the men and women both ran an 8K and a 5K for the season.  The men's team placed second while the women's team placed third. 
 
The men were led by freshman Mario Martinez who placed 5th and stopped Tulane from having a perfect score.  Martinez posted a time of 28:54.  Trevee Kelly finished the placed in the top 10 as well finishing in the 8th position. 
 
On the women's side, junior Condrea Collins ran a 19:56 in the 5K run and placed 7th.  Freshman Brandi McCray placed 11th with a time of 21:09.
 
Both teams will have the week off before returning to action on the October 5th to participate in the Mississippi College Watson Ford Invitational.
