Hughes advances to NCAA Finals


Alcorn State, MS----Senior track sensation, Nate Hughes, has reached another milestone of his collegiate career, by qualifying for the NCAA Finals in the 400 meter hurdles.  Hughes qualified with a time of 50.77 which was .65 seconds from finishing in first place.  Hughes also ran the 110 meter hurdles, but did not qualify for the event in the NCAA Finals time.

 

For Hughes performance this weekend, he was named to the All Mid-East Regional Team.

 

Lino Reyes, Hughes’ teammate, had a strong showing at the Mid-East Regional but did not qualify for the NCAA Finals.  Reyes finished with a time of 55.42 in the 400 meter hurdles. 

 

The NCAA Finals will take place on June 11-14, 2008 on the campus of Drake University.

Hughes and Reyes prepare for NCAA Regionals


Alcorn State, MS—Two Alcorn State University Men’s Track athletes are set to take part in the NCAA Regionals on Friday in Fayetteville, Arkansas. 

Senior Nate Hughes and freshman Lino Reyes both qualified in the 400 meter hurdles earlier this season. Hughes also qualified for the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.20.  In the 400 meter hurdles, Hughes qualified with a time of 50.94 and is ranked 5th in the Mid-East Region.  Reyes qualified with a time of 51.64 and is ranked 11th in the Mid-East Region.

Hughes has recently signed a free-agent deal with the Cleveland Browns.
