Fall Camp Day 3: A look at the Quarterbacks

Bridge and Smith split time participating in team drills

Alcorn State, MS—The quarterback position on any football team plays a very significant role in ball games. The quarterback is looked upon as a leader and is often times compared to a general who leads his troops to battle.
Quarterbacks Coach, Bruce Eugene gave a brief synopsis of quarterbacks Brandon Bridge, Darius Smith and Brandon Vessell.
Brandon Bridge-“Leadership has improved since the spring. He reminds me of myself with his competitive nature, will to be great and his will to be the best at the position. I expect Brandon to have a great season. Athletically there is no one better in the conference than Brandon,” stated Eugene.
Darius Smith-“He has really impressed me. Darius has worked real hard in the offseason and he is throwing much better with great velocity. His leadership skills are solid. We have tweaked a few things in his stance and Darius' footwork has also improved,” acknowledged Eugene.

Brandon Vessell-“Brandon is a young kid who is real raw with a lot of potential. He will grow and become a better quarterback as camp progresses. Brandon has great size and length and is a quality athlete. He also takes direction real well,” said Eugene.

The Office of Sports Information will profile the Wide Receiver Position on Monday, August 8, 2011.
