Alcorn State falls to Prairie View, 40-14

Alcorn State, MS--Alcorn State's final home game ended in a 40-14 loss to Prairie View A&M.
 
The Panthers scored first as Le'Darryae Groover rushed twenty-two yards for a Prairie View touchdown.
 
Alcorn State's Terrance Lewis would score off a 92-yard kickoff return to put the Braves on the scoreboard.  Arturo Tamayo's PAT gave Alcorn State the 7-6 lead. 
 
Prairie View's Jerry Lovelocke's 22 yard pass to Greg Thurmond helped the Panthers to regain a 13-7 lead over Alcorn.
 
The Panthers continued to pull away from Alcorn in the 3rd quarter as Fred Anderson rushed for 13 yards for a Prairie View touchdown.  Prairie View scored on 4th and 3 as Lovelocke connected with Olatunde Idowu for a ten-yard touchdown.  Darius Smith's pass was intercepted by Chris King who took the ball 65 yards to give Prairie View a 33-7 lead over Alcorn State.
 
The Braves would score as Simon Collier was a sure target for Darius Smith's 11 yard touchdown pass. 
 
Prairie View final score came from Courtney Brown's 10 yard run.
 
Darius Smith was 11 for 27 with 159 yards and one touchdown.  Arnold Walker was the team's rushing leader for the game with 17 carries for 92 yards.  Terrance Lewis led the team in receiving with three receptions for 66 yards.  Brandon Thompson led Alcorn State on defense with nine tackles (8 solo, 1 assists), and one fumble recovery and one pass breakup.
 
Alcorn State will travel to Jackson, Mississippi to face the Tigers of Jackson State on November 17th.  Kick-off time is set for 1 pm at the Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium.
