After the first quarter with no score from either team, Texas Southern got on the scoreboard just before halftime as Riko Smalls connected with Kirk Fitzhugh for a seven yard touchdown.
The Tigers continued to add to their lead in the third quarter when Riko Smalls ran sixteen yards for a Texas Southern touchdown.
Terrance Lewis' 84 yard punt return put the Braves on the scoreboard in the fourth quarter.
The Braves' defense made key stops throughout the game for Alcorn State as they stopped the Tigers from scoring in Alcorn's red-zone three out of five times.

Arnold Walker was the team's rushing leader for the game with 10 carries for 35 yards.
Simon Collier led the team in receiving yards with three receptions for 53 yards.
William Thomas led Alcorn State on defense with six tackles (5 solo, 2 assists), 0.5 tackle for loss for 1 yard and one force fumble.
Alcorn State will travel to Montgomery, Alabama to face the Hornets (3-1 overall, 3-0 SWAC) of Alabama State. Kick-off time is set for 7 pm at the Cramton Bowl.
