Lady Braves outslugs Bethune Cookman Uni. in 4-2 defeat

Daytona Beach, FL--Alcorn State lost 4-2 in seven innings at Daytona, FL on Saturday, despite outhitting Bethune Cookman Uni. six to five.

Bethune Cookman Uni. would not relinquish the lead as the Lady Braves were unable to weather a three-run first inning deficit.

Alcorn State scored on in the second inning and in the seventh inning. Despite their efforts, theLady Braves couldn't finish the comeback.

Chamara Moore racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Alcorn State. Moore singled in the second inning and doubled in the seventh inning.

Bethune Cookman Uni. scored three runs in the first inning to build an early lead.

Aurelia Gamch boosted her batting average thanks to a perfect 3-3 day at the plate, to pace Bethune Cookman Uni. Gamch doubled in the first inning and singled in the third and fifth innings.

Shanel Tolbert was a workhorse in the circle for Bethune Cookman Uni. Tolbert pitched seven innings and allowed two earned runs, six hits and no walks while striking out four.

Tabitha Bonnell rose to the occasion out of the bullpen, hurling two innings of shutout ball while racking up no strikeouts and giving up one hit and no walks.
