Braves lost 10-2 to
Uni. of Southern Mississippi at Alcorn State on Tuesday as
Beth Dietrich allowed two hits over five innings.
Barbara White racked up two RBIs on one hit for Alcorn State. She doubled in the fifth inning.
Uni. of Southern Mississippi was sparked by Britney Dinelt and Mackenzie Sher, who teamed up for five hits and four RBIs.
The game was never in doubt after the first, as Uni. of Southern Mississippi scored two runs on a sacrifice fly by Caroline Walker and an RBI triple by Dinelt.
Uni. of Southern Mississippi pushed across four runs in both the third inning and the fifth. In the third, Uni. of Southern Mississippi scored on a groundout by Chanell Thurman, bringing home Leslie LeJune.
After pushing across two runs in the bottom of the fifth, the Lady Braves faced just a 10-2 deficit. A two-run double by White fueled Alcorn State's comeback. Uni. of Southern Mississippi closed the game out when Dietrich got Sylvia Archuleta to ground out.
