Southern University coughs up lead, the Braves win 10-7

Baton Rouge, LA--Things looked bleak for the Lady Braves when they trailed by four runs in the fourth inning, but the Alcorn State recovered thanks to a key double in the sixth inning from Bianca Armstrong to pull out a 10-7 win in seven innings over Southern University at Baton Rouge, LA.

With the score tied at six, Armstrong came to the plate and doubled, bringing home Chqueta Givens.

Armstrong put herself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Lady Braves.

Deanna Rancilio got the win in relief for Alcorn State. Rancilio pitched five innings and allowed two runs.

The Lady Braves' Alexandria Harris, Armstrong, Givens and Rayanna Davis combined for seven hits and seven RBIs.

The bottom of the second saw Southern University take an early lead, 5-0. A double by Jasmine Payne, scoring Kiah Williams started the inning off. Southern University added more runs when Jackson scored on an RBI single by Allison Piercefield, Payne scored on a passed ball, Piercefield scored on an RBI single by Audrey Phillips, and Hall scored on a groundout by Kacey Ost.

Southern University scored one run in the fourth inning, and then followed it up with one more in the sixth. In the fourth, Southern University scored, bringing home Piercefield.
