Men's Tennis Drops Season Opener to Lamar, 5-2

Beaumont, Texas-The Alcorn State men's tennis team opened their 2013 season at Lamar today.  The defending champions were defeated by Lamar 5-2.

Ernesto Santillan and Max Tkachenko led the Braves today.  Both Santillan and Tkachenko won their perspective matches.  Santillan defeated Rob Lee 6-4, 6-7, and 10-7.  Tkachenko took on Trey Crysel and won 6-4 and 6-1.

Santillan and Ivan Umnikov played a close doubles match but fell to Rob Lee and CarlPhillip Lindqvist of Lamar 8-7.

The Braves return to action Feb. 6 as they take on Jackson State.  The match is set to start at 2:30 p.m.
