Box Score 2 Lorman, Miss.-The Alcorn State softball team took on the Lady Demons of Northwestern State this afternoon. The Lady Braves dropped both games to the Lady Demons, 8-0 and 12-1.
Game 1
Northwestern State 8, Lady Braves 0
Northwestern State used a 10-hit game and back-to-back three-run innings to defeat the Lady Braves in game one. Cassandra Barefield had three hits, 2 runs, and 3 rbi's to lead the way for the Lady Demons.
Kylie Ross struck out seven batters in four innings.
The Lady Braves went without a single hit the entire first game.
Game 2
Northwestern State 12, Lady Braves 1
The Lady Braves gave up five runs in the fifth and seventh innings in the final game of the day against the Lady Demons.
Solid defense kept the Lady Braves in the game holding the Lady Demons to only one run.
The Lady Demons (8-2) exploded in the fifth inning scoring led by Brianna Rodriguez hit a RBI single to give the Lady Demons a 2-0 lead. A couple of walks and a single pushed the lead to 6-0 and the Lady Demons controlled the tempo from there.
The Lady Braves did manage to get on the board in the sixth inning on an error by the Lady Demons which scored
Chqueta Givens all the way from first base.
Rodriguez led the way with three hits and scoring three runs.
Chamara Moore recorded two hits and double for the Lady Braves.
The Lady Braves (1-8) softball team return to action next Thursday as they travel to Hammond, La. to take on Southeastern Louisiana. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
