Box Score 2 Lorman, Miss.-The Lady Braves Softball team has turned up the heat this past week picking up four wins with the latest against Talladega College, 11-7 and 11-10.
Game 1
Talladega jumped out to an early 6-0 in the top of the first inning but the Lady Braves quickly closed the gap in the bottom of the inning.
Alexandra Harris hit an RBI double and Samantha Martinez hit a 3RBI triple to cut the lead to 6-4. Illens Suleymanyan singled in Martinez to score their fifth run of the inning. Talladega led 6-5 going into the second inning.
Both teams would score one run a piece in the second inning and after a scoreless third inning, the Lady Braves picked up slack holding Talladega scoreless in innings four through seven.
In the fourth, after Harris tripled, Vesper hit an RBI single to score Harris which tied the game at 7-7.
Chqueta Givens hit an RBI single and
Rayven Riggs grounded out for an RBI given the Lady Braves their first lead of the game 9-7.
The Lady Braves put the game away with a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to pick up the win in game 1.
Game 2
In game 2, Talladega cracked open the scoreboard with 10-2 lead up until the bottom of the fifth inning when the Lady Braves put together an amazing comeback.
The Lady Braves capitalized off of two of Talladega's mistakes and scored two runs on a sacrifice fly by Briana Bishop and an RBI single by Harris.
In the bottom half of the sixth inning, head coach Jessica Harris made a change in the lineup substituting
Chelsie Dahlbeck for
Tiffany Stewart. Dahlbeck delivered with a RBI single. Riggs and
Breanna O'Leary both grounded out but racked a pair of RBI's in the process. Givens also hit an RBI single to give the Lady Braves a four-run inning cutting the lead to 10-8.
The Lady Braves came alive once again in the seventh.
Hannah Vesper singled in Harris to cut the lead to 10-9. Suleymanyan got on base on a fielder's choice. Dahlbeck stepped up to plate and came through for the Lady Braves hitting a 2RBI double scoring the tying and game winning runs.
The Lady Braves move to 7-25 on the season carrying their momentum into next week with a four games at home against Nicholls State and a three-game series with SWAC leader Jackson State on the weekend.
