Rewind Monday: Braves 63, Edward Waters 12
On Saturday, the Alcorn State Football Team kicked off the 2013 on the right foot with a blowout win over Edward Waters 63-12. Listed below is a recap of what took place this weekend in the Braves victory.

With the win on Saturday, the Braves are now 2-0 in season openers under head coach Jay Hopson

Sophomore quarterback John Gibbs completed 75% of his passes going 15-20 for 184 yards. Gibbs also ran and passed for a touchdown this weekend.

Senior running back, Arnold Walker carried the ball 16 times for 75 yards and a career-high single game, three touchdowns. Walker only needs 136 yards to move up into the Alcorn State record books for most career rushing yards.

The Braves defense allowed only 133 yards on the ground and forced four turnovers (2 fumble recoveries and 2 interceptions.

Sophomore cornerback, Anthony Williams, Jr., intercepted a pass and forced a fumble on special teams. Williams, Jr. was also credited for two tackles.

Freshman kicker, Haiden McCraney posted a perfect 8-for-8 on PAT attempts. McCraney now holds a new freshman record for most PATs made in a single game.

The Braves scored 63 points which was the most points scored in a single game since the 2003 season (vs. Prairie View 66-0).

Offensively, the Braves accumulated over 400 yards total offense (280 rushing, 184 passing).

Defensive tackle, Kenry Tolbert recovered his first-ever fumble for a 24-yard touchdown.

Freshman quarterback, Khadarel Hodge, ran the ball one time and made it count for a 12-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter.
The Braves now turn their attention to SEC opponent Mississippi State this Saturday at Davis-Wade Stadium in Starkville, Miss. Kickoff is staged for 2:30 p.m.
