Punter Lee Williams made his way to the "Reservation in 1978 and played all four years for the Braves up until 1981. In those four years Williams became the best punter to ever come through Alcorn and in the SWAC.
As a freshman, Williams finished fifth in the SWAC in punting averaging 37.8 yards per punt. He increased his averaged during the 1979 season punting the ball 69 times for an average of 39.3 and was a valuable part of the Braves capturing the 1979 SWAC Championship with an 8-2 overall record.
The year of 1980 was the best year of his career. Williams averaged 40.8 yards per punt on 58 attempts with his longest being 81 yards. He earned a spot on the All-SWAC 2nd Team and was a member of the NAIA All-District Team.
In his final season as a Brave, Williams broke the SWAC record for most yards punting in a career totaling 10,781 yards. He attempted 80 punts for 3,160 yards in 1981 for an average of 39.5 yards per punt. He was named Alcorn State's Senior Football Player of the Year by the Jackson Touchdown Club and participated in the SBN All-Star Football Game.
Williams has held his SWAC record for over 30 years and still holds the record up to this day.
