Top 50 Greatest Football Players: No. 37, Chad Slaughter

Today's no. 37 pick in the Top 50 Greatest Football Players in Alcorn history is Dallas, Texas native Chad Slaughter.  Slaughter was a 6-7, 310 pound offensive lineman who played for the Braves from 1995 to 1999.  Slaughter blocked for some prolific offenses during his four years at Alcorn and earned conference honors in those years.

In 1998, Slaughter began receiving recognition for his play as an offensive lineman.  He earned 2nd Team All-SWAC honors after helping the Braves garner 4,416 yards of total offense (1787 rushing, 2629 passing) which finished second in the SWAC.

Slaughter's senior season in 1999 gained national attention from several different NFL scouts and all-american teams.  He was named to the All-SWAC 1st Team and the American Football Coaches Association All-American team.  Though he didn't get drafted, Slaughter managed to sign as a free agent with the Dallas Cowboys in 2000 and played for several other teams in his career.

Slaughter was also a member of the Braves 1999 SWAC Basketball team.  He averaged 4.3 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.
