Third-year head track and field coach,
Garry Lewis, announced the signing of nine young ladies to join the Lady Braves track and field program for the 2014-15 season. The class includes young ladies from Mississippi (
Jenascia Peters, Breanna Foy, Kierra Gardner, & Jamia Sanders), Texas (
Tramesha Hardy,
Yekeshia Royal, & Erica Davis), Louisiana (
Dynasty Williams), and Florida (
Keyosha Lovette).
Erica Davis hails from Pearland, Texas where she attended Pearland Dawson High School. She was a sprinter for Dawson for four years. This past season she helped Dawson place 2nd in the 4x100m relay at the 2014 4A Texas State Championships with a time of 46.77. She also helped Dawson capture the District 24-4A title. She has personal best of 24.88 in the 200m dash and 57.55 in the 400m dash.
Breanna Foy is local product from Vicksburg, Miss. She attended Vicksburg High School where she participated in the long and triple jump events as well as the 4x100m relay. During her senior season, Foy captured the 5A North State and State long jump title with a leap of 18-03. In 2013, she finished second in the long jump at the state championships with a mark of 17-09. She earned All-District, All-Region, All-North State, and All-State honors in 2013 and 2014.
Kierra Gardner comes in from the Indianola, Miss. and attended Gentry High School. She won the district and regional titles in the 400m dash and placed 3rd at the 2014 State Track and Field Championships with a time personal best time of 59.07.
Tramesha Hardy is a native of Houston, Texas where she attended C.E. King High School. This past year, Hardy went undefeated in the 100m dash en route to capturing the 4A State title with a time of 11.71. She has a personal best time of 23.77 in the 200m dash and 11.69 in the 100m dash. Hardy also helped her team to a 4th place finish in the 4x200m relay at the 2014 State Championships with a time of 1:39.77. She was awarded All-District, All-Area, All-Regional, and All-State honors during her senior year.
Keyosha Lovette hails from the city of Miami, Fla. and attended Miami Southridge High School. Lovette is a hurdler who won the District 16-4A 100m and 300m hurdles title in 2014. She placed 2nd (100m hurdles) and 4th (300m hurdles) at the regional championships and finished 4th at the 2014 Florida State Track and Field Championships. Lovette has a personal best time of 14.20 in the 100m hurdles and 44.05 in the 300m hurdles.
Jenascia Peters is from Poplarville, Miss. where she attended Poplarville High School. Peters captured the 2014 Mississippi 4A State titles in the long and triple jumps with leaps of 18-10 and 38-10, respectively. Peters also placed 4th in the 300m hurdles at the state championships with a time of 47.87. In the triple jump, Peters went undefeated in the State of Mississippi her senior season.
Yekeshia Royal is a native of Forney, Texas and attended North Forney High School. Royal placed 20th at the 2013 Texas State Cross Country Championships with a time of 19:26. She placed 7th and ran a season best 18:39 in the 5K at the 2012 Texas State Cross Country Championships. Her personal best time in the 5K is 18:20 which she previously accomplished during her senior season. She also has a personal best of 11:47 in the two-mile race. She earned All-District, All-Region, and All-State honors in her final season at North Forney.
Jamia Sanders is another local signee from Vicksburg, Miss. Sanders ran the 400m dash and the 4x400m relay for Vicksburg High School. Her personal best time in the 400m dash is 59.00 seconds.
Dynasty Williams comes from Baker, La. and ran four years at Baker High School. Dynasty won the Louisiana 3A State Track and Field title in the 3200 meter run in 2014 posting a time of 11:50 and placed 2nd in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:29. In 2012, Williams captured the Louisiana 3A Cross Country State title recording a time of 19:39 in the 5K race. She earned All-District, All-Region, and All-State honors during her senior year.
