Another product of Fayette, Miss. comes in today at No. 31 of the Top 50 Greatest Football Players in Alcorn history. Former linebacker Howard Clark is today's pick after recording some impressive stats between 1998 and 2001.
Clark begin his career in 1998 but didn't see much action until his sophomore season in 1999. Clark was the leading tackler for the Braves in 1999 after piling up 70 total tackles, four tackles for a loss. He also intercepted a pass and returned a fumble for a 16-yard touchdown. Clark was named to the All-SWAC 2nd Team Defense for his performance that season.
The 2000 season was when he exploded for 112 tackles and 11 tackles for a loss. He also recorded 7 sacks, forced two fumbles and intercepted a pass. Clark was once again named to the All-SWAC 2nd Team Defense.
In his senior season, Clark earned a spot on the All-SWAC 1st Team Defense. He posted 109 tackles and recorded a career-high 18 tackles for a loss and 5.5 sacks. He blocked one kick, forced and recovered a fumble and broke up a pass. He had a season-high of 16 tackles in a 40-35 win over Alabama A&M that season.
