After catching only six passes for 134 yards his freshman in 1988, Tillman got the opportunity to shine during his sophomore season in 1989.  He caught 29 passes for 492 yards and scored five touchdowns in only seven games.  He averaged 70.3 yards per game and 16.9 yards per catch.

In 1990, the 6'3 1/2 Tillman led the Braves in the receiving yards, catches, and touchdown categories reeling in 36 passes for 538 yards and scored four touchdowns.  He was named to the All-SWAC 2nd Team Offense.

Tillman's senior season in 1991 proved to be the best season of his four-year career.  Once again he led the Braves with a career-high 58 catches for 790 yards.  He also led the Braves in scoring with 11 receiving touchdowns and totaled 68 points.  He averaged 79.0 yards per game, 13.6 yards per catch, and garnered 1st Team All-SWAC Offensive honors.

Tillman finished his career with a total of 129 catches, 1,974 yards and scored 20 touchdowns.  He was selected by the Denver Broncos in the 1992 draft.
