Top 50 Greatest Football Players: No. 14, Torrance "Kid" Small

To kick off the weekend is a familiar face in the Top 50 Greatest Football Players in Alcorn history, Torrance "Kid" Small.  Small played for the Braves from 1988 to 1991 as a wide receiver.  He was the other half of the dynamic duo, "The Untouchables" along with teammate Cedric "CC" Tillman.

In Small's first season in 1988, he caught 15 passes for 297 yards and averaged 19.8 yards per catch.

Small's stats increased during the 1989 season after leading the Braves with 47 catches for 926 yards and scored a team-high nine touchdowns.  He was named to the All-SWAC 2nd Team that season.

He battled an injury in 1990 but still managed to reel in 23 catches for 236 yards in five games.

His senior season in 1991 was the best season of his career.  Already nationally recognized and a potential draft pick, Small set career records in '91 catching 55 passes for a team-high 1,068 yards and scored seven touchdowns.  He earned 1st Team All-SWAC honors and was selected in the 1992 NFL Draft by the New Orlenas Saints.

Small is ranked third in school history in career yards with a total of 2,527 yards and fourth in career receptions with 140.
