Top 50 Greatest Football Players: No. 28, Jerry Dismuke

Jerry Dismuke comes in today at the No. 28 spot in the Top 50 Greatest Football Players in Alcorn history.  Dismuke played offensive guard for the Braves from 1971 to 1974 was a member of the Braves 1974 Championship team.

Dismuke helped the Braves to four consecutive winning seasons.  The Braves totaled 3,381 of total offense with Dismuke's help at the guard position in 1971.

In 1973,  Dismuke and the Braves offense posted a 7-2-1 record and totaled 3,010 of total offense including 2,022 yards on the ground.  Dismuke earned All-SWAC 2nd Team Offensive honors for his performance.

Dismuke exposed himself more than ever in his career.  The Braves went 9-2 en route to a SWAC and National Black College Championship.  The Braves averaged 25.6 points per game and accumulated 3,455 yards of offense.  Dismuke was named to the NCAA All-America 1st Team his senior year. 

Dismuke was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the 1975 NFL Draft.
