Arnold Walker. Walker was a member of the Braves from 2009 to 2013 as a running back. Recently, Walker set numerous records and left his mark at Alcorn as one of the greatest players.
Walker first saw action in 2009 carrying the ball 119 times for 432 yards and scored three touchdowns. He suffered a season-ending injury in the first game of the 2010 season but made his way back to the field the following year.
In 2011, Walker notched 713 yards on 142 carries and scored three touchdowns which was one of his best seasons yet. He finished 4th in the SWAC in rushing yards per game. He rushed for over 100 yards in four games including a season-high 149 yards against Alabama State.
Walker carried the ball 119 times for 390 yards and scored four touchdowns to lead the Braves in 2012.
His senior season in 2013 was a historic one becoming the all-time leading rushing yards leader with a career total of 2,806 yards. He rushed for 1,191 yards on 224 carries and broke a single-season rushing touchdowns record by scoring 16 touchdowns. He led the SWAC in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns and was named the 2013 SWAC Co-Offensive Player of the Year. He broke a 21-year record for most points scored in a season with a total of 96 points surpassing Harry Brown and Tim McNair. He rushed for over 100 yards in seven of 12 games and recorded six consecutive 100-yard games. He posted a career-high 156 yards and scored two touchdowns against Southern. He was named the Circle City Classic Offensive MVP for his 114 yards and two-touchdown performance. At the end of the season, he was selected as a C Spire Conerly Award Finalist and participated in the FCS Senior Scout Bowl.
Walker is ranked 3rd in career rushing touchdowns with a total of 20 and 2nd all-time in career rushes with 566. He posted the second best single-season rushing yards performance in Alcorn history in 2013.
