Top 50 Greatest Players: No. 25, Marcus Hinton

Today's pick at the no. 25 spot in the Top 50 Greatest Football Players in Alcorn history is wide receiver, Marcus Hinton.  Earned the nickname, "6'6," at Alcorn because he was actually that tall, Hinton played for the Braves from 1992 to 1994 and in three years he compiled for some of the best wide receiver stats in school history.

Hinton got his first opportunity in a Braves uniform in 1992.  He caught 30 passes for 737 yards and scored a career-high 11 touchdowns to be named the 1992 SWAC Newcomer of the Year.  The Braves captured the 1992 SWAC Championship with an undefeated record of 4-0 in conference play.

In 1993, he led the Braves and the SWAC in receptions (41), receiving yards (807), and receiving touchdowns (7) and earned 1st Team All-SWAC Offensive honors.

During his final season as Brave, he was part of history helping the Braves break numerous records and also winning a share of the 1994 SWAC Championship.  Hinton reeled in 44 catches for 878 yards and scored eight touchdowns.  Hinton recorded a single-game career high 13 catches for 316 yards (record still stands at this moment) and scored three touchdowns (all three touchdowns were for 60 or more yards) in the Braves 54-28 win over Tennessee-Chattanooga.

Hinton finished his career with 112 receptions and is ranked 4th in all-time receiving yards (2,392).  He is the all-time leader in receiving touchdowns with a total of 26 for his career.
