Top 50 Greatest Football Players: No. 24, Wilfredo Rosales

Wednesday's pick in the Top 50 Greatest Football Players in Alcorn history is kicker Wilfredo Rosales.  Rosales comes in at the no. 24 spot after playing for the Braves from 1977 to 1980.  During his four year career he set numerous school and conference records.

Rosales got to work right away his freshman season in 1977.  He went 19-of-21 on PATs, made four field goals, and led the Braves in scoring with a total of 31 points.

In 1978, Rosales earned All-SWAC 2nd Team honors for his stellar performance.  He led the Braves for the second consecutive season in scoring with a total of 32 points, made 17 PATs and nailed five field goals.

Rosales was a valuable part of the Braves winning the 1979 SWAC Championship during his junior season.  Rosales was 14-of-15 on PATs and made 13-of-18 field goals to lead the Braves in scoring with 52 points.  He ranked fourth in the SWAC in scoring and was named to the All-SWAC 2nd Team for his outstanding numbers.

In his final season as Brave in 1980, Rosales was selected the All-SWAC 1st Team.  He went above and beyond once again to lead the Braves in scoring.  He totaled 57 points making 21-of-25 PATs and was 12-for-21 on made field goals.

Rosales is the only player in Alcorn football history to lead the Braves in scoring every single season during his career.  He currently holds the SWAC and school record in most field goals made in a quarter (4) and most field goals made in a game (5).  He is also tied for the most field goals made in a single season at Alcorn (13).
