Top 50 Greatest Football Players: No. 23, Richard "M-16" Myles

The first quarterback to enter the Top 50 Greatest Football Players in Alcorn history at the no. 23 spot is Flora, Miss. native, Richard "M-16" Myles.  Myles started for the Braves all four years of his career from 1982 to 1985.  He average seven wins per game from 1983 to 1985 and put together some outstanding performances each season. 

Despite not throwing a single touchdown his freshman season, Myles completed 66-of151 passes for 804 yards in 10 games for the Braves.  He did manage to score two rushing touchdowns during that his freshman debut.

In 1983, Myles helped the Braves to a 7-3 record after throwing for over 1,400 yards and 13 touchdowns.

His junior year is rated as his best season yet as the starting quarterback for the Braves.  Myles completed 95-of-187 passes for 1,523 yards and 16 touchdowns.  Myles also rushed for 96 yards and scored three touchdowns.  Myles guided the Braves to a 9-0 record before losing to Louisiana Tech in the Division I-AA playoffs.  The Braves finished 7-0 in SWAC play and averaged 37.5 points per game.  He was named to the 1984 All-SWAC 2nd Team.

In his final season as Brave, Myles compiled for over 1,500 yards for the second consecutive season and threw 13 touchdowns.  He led the Braves to another seven-win season and earned All-SWAC 2nd Team honors.

Myles is currently ranked 3rd on the all-time career passing yards list with a total of 5,474 yards.  He is ranked 3rd in completions (366) and 4th in passing touchdowns (42).
