After nearly a month off the field due to bad weather, Head Coach Josef Rankin and his Lady Braves softball team were back in action this evening at Southern Mississippi.  The Lady Braves lost both games today 8-3 and 12-0 (5 inn.).

Game 1:  Lady Braves 3, Southern Mississippi 8
Southern Miss scored three runs in the 1st inning but the Lady Braves finally got things going in the third inning.

Sametria Collins led off with a single. Three batters later Collins scored on a sacrifice fly by Jordenne Taylor.  Riggs stepped in next and hit an RBI single to left field to score Adrianna Gutierrez.  The final run of the inning came from a groundout by Hannah Vesper to score Alexandria Harris.  The Lady Braves scored three runs in the third to cut the Lady Golden Eagles lead to 4-3.

From there it was all about the Lady Golden Eagles.  

The Lady Braves finished with six hits in the game.

Game 2:  Lady Braves 0, Southern Mississippi 12 (5 inn.)
Southern Miss scored eight runs in the 1st inning to pretty much put the game under wraps.

Gutierrez earned the Lady Braves only hit of the game.

The Lady Braves (2-9) return to action next Wednesday as they welcom Mississippi College to Lorman for doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m.
