Alcorn State Track and Field opened season at Lenord Hilton Memorial Invitation

HOUSTON – Alcorn State opened its 2016 Indoor Track and Field season with several top-10 finishes at Houston's Leonard Hilton Memorial Invitational on Friday.

Alcorn State's JASMINE ROBINSON finished fourth in the women's 60m dash, and BRANDI MCCRAY was sixth in the women's 1-mile run. DYNASTY WILLIAMS was fourth in the women's 5000-meter run, and the women's 4x400m relay team claimed fourth place in its meet. DOMINIQUE EDWARDS finished fifth in the women's shot put for the Braves.

The Braves men were led by JaDarius Smith (fifth) and JUSTIN BOYD (sixth) in the 200-meter dash. DEVONTAE RICHARDSON claimed second in the 400m, missing the top spot by less than half a second. MARQUIS PRENTISS finished fourth in the same event for Alcorn State. JEREMY BANKS was fifth in the 60-meter hurdles, and the Braves' 4x400-meter relay team finished third.

Other strong results for Alcorn State included Darryl Carter coming in fourth in the long jump, and DARRYL JONES finishing second in the Triple Jump.
