Alcorn Game Notes | Braves All-Access | Live Stats

LORMAN, Miss. – Having already clinched the SWAC East Division title, the Alcorn State University football program will wrap-up the regular season Saturday when it hosts Jackson State at 2 p.m. on Senior Day at Jack Spinks-Marino Casem Stadium.

Alcorn (4-5, 4-4 SWAC) knotted up the division last weekend after a dominant 61-7 victory over Mississippi Valley State, coupled with a Jackson State (3-7, 3-5 SWAC) loss to Alabama A&M. Alcorn will play either Grambling State or Southern in the SWAC Championship at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas on Dec. 3.

Freshman quarterback Noah Johnson had a historic day last weekend, setting a school record with eight total touchdowns which was one shy of tying the all-time FCS record. He threw for seven scores and ran for one. Johnson was named SWAC Co-Offensive Player of the Week, College Sports Madness SWAC Offensive Player of the Week and College Football Performance FCS Performer of the Week on Monday.

Alcorn used a balanced run attack to rack up 283 rushing yards. Junior Silas Spearman posted a game-high 94 rushing yards while junior De'Lance Turner rushed for 75. Junior Quadre Butler saw his first action this season and rushed for 52.

JSU is looking to shake off its defeat to AAMU and finish its season on a high note. The Tigers lead the league in pass defense, allowing just 198.2 passing yards per game.

The Tigers have used a variety of quarterbacks this season as seven different student-athletes have thrown passes. Jarin Morikawa and Brent Lyles have seen the bulk of the duties and have fired three touchdowns apiece. Dan Williams is the team's top receiving threat as he averages 74.9 receiving yards per game and 12.7 yards per catch.

Saturday's contest can be heard via radio on 91.7 WPRL FM with play-by-play voice Charles Edmond on the call. It can also be viewed via live stream on Braves All-Access with a subscription.
