Alcorn Earns Six All-Conference Selections; Anderson, Foster on First-Team

LORMAN, Miss. – Seniors Darien Anderson and Eric Foster were honored on the All-Conference First-Team from the Alcorn State University football program, and four more Braves were tabbed to the Second-Team, the league office announced Thursday.

Alcorn was represented on the All-Conference Second-Team by senior Detonio Dade and junior Timothy Gardner on the offensive line, and senior linebacker Michael Hurns and junior defensive end Michael Brooks on defense.

Anderson earned All-Conference recognition for the second straight year after being named to the Second-Team last season. The Miami, Florida native ranks fourth in FCS in sacks with 1.00 per outing. He's on the Buck Buchanan Watch List which is awarded to the best defensive player in FCS. In addition to his sacks, Anderson is also 14th in FCS in tackles for a loss (1.7).

Foster, from Memphis, Tennessee, ranked top-10 in the SWAC in passes defended. He's wrapped up 41 tackles on the season and has also forced a fumble. Foster has recorded a pair of interceptions this year against Alabama A&M and Prairie View A&M. He posted a season-high eight tackles at PVAMU.

Dade earned All-Conference accolades for the fourth year in a row. Dade, a Laurel, Mississippi product, and Gardner, a Gary, Indiana native, are part of an offensive line that's helped Alcorn rank top-10 in the nation in sacks allowed, giving up just 0.90 per game. They've heavily aided the Braves rank No. 17 in the country and second in the SWAC in rushing offense.

Brooks, from Jackson, Mississippi, has been a staple for the Braves on the defensive line. He's recorded 29 tackles on the season including a season-high 11 against Alabama State. Brooks was part of a defense that shut out Jackson State in the second half and held MVSU to just seven points in the entire game over the last two weeks.

Hurns has been one of the SWAC's leading tacklers all season. The Cleveland, Mississippi product has wrapped up 62 tackles on the season with three sacks. Hurns' season-high is 12 tackles against Alabama State. Before the season started, he was named Student Government Association Senior Class President and is currently in office.
