LORMAN, Miss. – College Sports Madness released its 2016 FCS All-America football teams, and senior linebacker
Darien Anderson from Alcorn State University earned recognition on the Third-Team.

A native of Miami, Florida, Anderson finished fourth in FCS in sacks with 1.00 per game. He was also top-15 in tackles for loss with 1.6 per outing. Anderson led the SWAC in both categories.

Anderson earned All-Conference honors for the second straight year after being named to the 2016 First-Team. He was one of seven finalists in the country on the Buck Buchanan Watch List which was awarded to the best defensive player in FCS.

In addition to his sacks and tackles for loss, Anderson led the Braves with 91 tackles on the season. He totaled 11 sacks resulting in negative 72 yards, and 18 tackles for a loss for negative 95 yards. Of his 91 tackles, 53 were solo.

Anderson wrapped up a team-high 11 tackles in the SWAC Championship game against Grambling State. It marked the fourth time on the season that he tallied double-figures in tackles as he also had 11 against Alabama State, 12 at Grambling during the regular season and a career-high 13 against Texas Southern.

Anderson was named Hero of the Week by HERO Sports on Sept. 30 after he registered 12 tackles and four sacks against the Tigers. He was also honored with both SWAC and CSM Defensive Player of the Week honors during the season.

With Anderson's contributions, the Alcorn defense finished third in FCS in team sacks (3.36 spg) and seventh in team tackles for loss (8.2 tfl).
