Lorman, Miss.- Alcorn State University committed a combined 10 errors versus Mississippi College, dropping game one 4-0, and game two 14-3.
Game 1
Alcorn squandered a masterful pitching performance in Game 1, committing four consecutive errors in the top of the ninth inning was too much to overcome, as Mississippi College (MC) was able to steal game one, 4-1, in a pitchers duel.
Paige Breal got the nod in the circle and kept MC at bay, striking out ten batters before going into extra innings. She only gave up two hits, four runs (none earned), and walked two batters.
Mississippi College's Carlie Sargent kept up with Breal's performance, pitching a nine inning shut out, giving up three hits and striking out 10 Lady Braves.
The game unraveled in the ninth inning for Alcorn. The Lady Braves' four errors allowed Mississippi College to close out the game with a victory.
Game 2
Alcorn was unable to contain MC's stellar hitting, which resulted in a 14-3 Lady Braves loss in six innings.
MC jumped out first scoring three runs in the top of the first inning. They added another run in the top of the third to propel their momentum.
Mississippi College added four runs in the top of the fourth inning and five runs in the top of the sixth
inning.
The Braves added three runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Jazmine Castillio recorded the loss, pitching three and two-thirds innings. She gave up eight hits, eight runs (six earned), and walked two.
