Lady Braves Stun Lady Bulldogs on Gresly Walk-off RBI Single

Box Score LORMAN, Miss. -- Alcorn State rallied from a three run defecit to setup a JESSEE GRESLY walk-off RBI single capped a seventh inning comeback for the Lady Braves defeating the Lady Bulldogs of Alabama A&M University 4-3 Saturday afternoon. 

Ashley "Paige" Breal got the nod in the circle, pitching a complete game for her ninth win of the season, recording eight strikeouts, seven hits and just two earned runs. 

The Lady Bulldogs bit first with a RBI double down the left field line to take a 1-0 advantage in the top of the fourth inning. 
 
AAMU extended their lead to three in the top of the fifth inning.

Alcorn State answered back in the bottom of the fifth on Sametia Collins RBI to shortstop, scoring MADISON CHITWOOD to cut the lead 3-1.

In the bottom of the seventh, Shamberlyn Alop got the rally going with a single to center. With two outs, the Lady Bulldogs started to unravel.

Andi Gutierrez singled to left field, putting the tying run on first base. TAYLOR HUGHES followed with a RBI single to center field scoring Alop. 


An unforced error by AAMU scored Gutierrez to tie the game at three all. Gresly took advantage of the next pitch as she hit the ball to right center field scoring COURTENAY HOLT and stealing game one from the Lady Bulldogs.

The Lady Braves will be back in action Saturday at 1 p.m. celebrating the final home game of senior HANNAH VESPER.
