ATLANTA – Junior
Daniel Stamper jumped seven spots on the leaderboard in the final round of the Black College Hall of Fame Saturday at Browns Mill Golf Club, resulting in a fifth-place team finish for the Alcorn State University men's golf team.
After shooting a 2-over 74 in the first round, Stamper responded by going 1 under in the second round to score a 143 on the weekend which placed him in a four-way tie for seventh.
Following Stamper was fellow junior
Daniel Racioppa who rebounded from an opening round 74 to card an even par in the final round, concluding the weekend in a two-way tie for 12
th.
Freshman
Spencer Rhodes notched a top-20 finish in his first collegiate tournament, moving up two spots into a two-way tie for 19
th after a final round score of 1-over 73.
Junior
Jon Allen improved four strokes to place in a two-way tie for 44
th at 14 over. Freshman
Kelton Mills posted a 17-over between the two rounds that landed him in a three-way tie for 51
st.
The Braves 291 second-round score marked the third-best of the day. SWAC foes Alabama State and Texas Southern finished atop the leaderboard at 3 under and 7 over, respectively.
Alcorn returns to the greens Oct. 2 at the Skyhawk Fall Classic hosted by UT Martin.
