MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Going up against conference teams for the second time this season, the Alcorn State University tennis programs will compete in the SWAC Round-Up Tournament hosted by Alabama State University on Friday and Saturday at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center.

The Lady Braves (4-11, 2-2 SWAC) will start it off with a 9 a.m. match Friday against Grambling State (3-8, 3-1 SWAC). They will close out Friday at 2 p.m. against Alabama State (7-7, 4-0 SWAC).

On Saturday, the Lady Braves will take on UAPB (0-13, 0-4 SWAC) at 9 a.m., followed by a 2 p.m. match versus PVAMU (3-18, 2-2 SWAC).

On the men's side, the Braves (4-15, 2-1 SWAC) will have Friday morning off before squaring off against the Hornets (4-11, 3-0 SWAC) at 2 p.m.

The Braves will play the identical schedule as the Lady Braves on Saturday. They will start it off with UAPB (1-17, 1-2 SWAC) at 9 a.m. Saturday, and PVAMU (3-16, 2-1 SWAC) at 2 p.m.

At the first SWAC Round-Up on Feb. 24-25, the Lady Braves swept MVSU 6-0 and Alabama A&M 4-0. They dropped a pair of hard-fought contests to Southern 4-2 and Jackson State 4-3. Sophomore
Marlene Maier was undefeated at No. 6 singles, and sophomore
Bianca Birkenstock finished 3-1 at the top spot.

The Braves also swept MVSU 7-0 and Alabama A&M 4-0. Their only defeat came in a closely contested match to Jackson State 4-2 which was the host institution. Junior
Kert Kilumets notched a perfect 3-0 record at No. 2 singles where he's 8-2 overall on the season. Kilumets and senior
Nikita Kostikov were also 3-0 at No. 1 doubles.

The two SWAC Round-Up Tournaments are used to seed the SWAC Championships on April 14-16 in New Orleans. The Lady Braves are the defending SWAC champions, while the Braves have won eight times in the past 17 years.
