HAMMOND, La. - The Alcorn State University women's tennis program took advantage of a short-handed Southeastern Louisiana squad to come out on top 5-2 Tuesday at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.

Alcorn (9-15, 5-3 SWAC) recorded wins at No. 1 and No. 4 singles to clinch after SLU (3-13) forfeited the No. 5 and 6 positions. The Lady Lions were forced to play with just four student-athletes due to injuries.

Daria Chemodanova was up 5-2 in the first set when Madina Vorotnikova retired.

Sophomore
Klavdija Bukovec notched a straight set 6-3, 6-2 victory over Yasmine Taylor at the No. 4 slot.

In doubles, the Lady Braves secured the point with a win at No. 2 after the Lady Lions forfeited at No. 3. The team of sophomore
Bianca Birkenstock and freshman
Anastasia Vaganova recorded a 7-5 win. The duo is now 9-4 together on the year.

The Lady Braves will close out the regular season Tuesday at 2 p.m. at William Carey. The match was originally scheduled for Friday but was moved. The Alcorn men's team will be in action Sunday when it travels to Ole Miss at 10 a.m.
