Braves Fall in Doubleheader at No. 34 Ole Miss

OXFORD, Miss. – Going up against the 34th-ranked team in the country, the Alcorn State University men's tennis program dropped a doubleheader 5-0 and 4-0 Sunday to Ole Miss at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center.
 
The Braves (7-18) put up a strong fight at several positions that went unfinished. In the first match, senior Nikita Kostikov was down a set and trailed just 5-4 in the second when the match was called at No. 3 singles. At the No. 4 spot, Nischay Rawal was up 2-1 in the second set after dropping the first.
 
In the match, sophomore Nuno Rocha was neck-and-neck with Robert Mounger with the score tied 6-6 in the first set when the Rebels (13-8) clinched.
 
At the top spot, junior Kert Kilumets took on the No. 33 player in the nation Grey Hamilton. Kilumets fell 6-2, 6-3 in the second match.
 
The Braves will wrap-up the regular season Tuesday in a 2 p.m. match at William Carey along with the Lady Braves. The 2017 SWAC Championships is slated for April 14-16 at the Pepsi Tennis Center in New Orleans.
