McNair Served as Grand Marshal at Okatoma Festival

COLLINS, Miss. – Alcorn State University football head coach Fred McNair was named as the 2017 Grand Marshal for the 28th Annual Okatoma Festival this past Saturday, May 6 hosted by the City of Collins.

The festival included a 5K run/walk and a children's one mile fun run. It began and ended at the Presbyterian Church in downtown Collins.

The festival also featured carnival rides, live music, old-fashioned ice cream and lots of other types of food. Dozens of vendors were also on hand selling lots of arts and crafts.

"I was very happy to receive the honor of being the Grand Marshal and being a part of the Mississippi Bicentennial celebration of the 200-year anniversary of the state," McNair said. "The festivity was great. I had a chance to walk around, meet the vendors and tasted some good ole' barbeque. It was very nice, and I wanted to thank the Chamber of Commerce in Collins for having me. They did a great job of putting it together."

An estimated 15,000 people were in attendance.
