Horne Presents at 20th Hellas-Mississippi Athletic Administrators Conference

BILOXI, Miss. - Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Derek J. Horne participated in the 20th Hellas-Mississippi Athletic Administrators Conference on Thursday afternoon.

Hosted at the Biloxi IP Casino & Resort the MAAA Conference agenda included professional development for athletic administrators, principals and superintendents while also focusing on challenges in the industry and offering training in specific areas. Breakout sessions also gave attendees the ability to hear from a wide range of topics and concerns in athletics today.

Horne was the only college director of athletics to present at the conference where his breakout session was titled "Coaches – Hiring & Firing."

"It was a privilege and an honor to have had the opportunity to participate in this worthwhile conference," said Horne on being approached to present to the group of high school administrators and coaches. "We at Alcorn State University want to continue supporting the efforts of all leaders in the field of athletics."

The conference is set to adjourn Friday, Jan. 12.

The MAAA was established in 1992 to promote the professional growth and image of interscholastic athletic administration and development of interscholastic athletic programs in Mississippi while also providing education programs for its members while working with the Mississippi High School Activities Association.
