Braves Fall on Opening Day at Ole Miss

OXFORD, Miss. – Due to recent cold climates in the area, the season opener for the Alcorn State University men's tennis program was moved indoors to the Ole Miss Indoor Tennis Center where the Rebels took a pair of 4-0 results over the Braves on Sunday.
 
Ole Miss has three singles players ranked in the top-70 and one doubles team ranked in the top-20.
 
At No. 1 doubles, sophomore Suyash Gupta and Johnatan Parat got on the board against Ole Miss' top-20 tandem of Tim Sandkaulen and Fabian Fallert in a 6-1 effort.
 
Singles play was highlighted by newcomer Stojan Stojanovski putting up a fight against Fallert at the No. 4 position. Stojanovski trailed just 5-4 in the first set when the match went unfinished after the Rebels clinched the overall match.
 
The Braves will be back on the court next weekend when they head to Southern Miss for a 2 p.m. match Saturday on the road. The Alcorn women's team will open the season Tuesday when it travels to West Alabama for a 2 p.m. start.
