Alcorn Softball Partners with Diamond Kinetics to Use SwingTracker

LORMAN, Miss. – To significantly enhance the hitting of the softball program, Alcorn State University will be using SwingTracker this spring, created by Diamond Kinetics.

SwingTracker is a swing analysis and development tool. Using Next Gen Sensor Technology, a small, lightweight sensor mounts quickly on virtually any bat.

The sensor includes precise 3D rendering of swing planes and paths, plus syncs with nine metrics to view and analyze. Student-athletes and coaches will be able to compare swings side-by-side or with overlay features.

"We are extremely excited about our partnership with Diamond Kinetics. Mr. J.D. Vidal has been awesome! It's going to help us tremendously," said Alcorn head coach Josef Rankin. "We are lacking right now in terms of staff, so this allows us to have a resource that gives us data to help our hitters be better."

SwingTracker captures video of swings to see how body movements affects key swing metrics. SwingTracker also estimates potential exit velocity and ball distance for each swing, assuming perfect spot contact.

Alcorn becomes the first school in the SWAC to use SwingTracker.
