Waller Earns FCS All-America Third-Team Honors

LORMAN, Miss. – A breakout season from junior De'Shawn Waller from the Alcorn State University football program earned him a spot on the STATS FCS All-America Third-Team, announced Tuesday.
 
Waller worked his way into becoming the premier running back in the SWAC after beginning the season at No. 3 on the Alcorn depth chart. He didn't start until the seventh game of the year against Alabama A&M.
 
The Atlanta, Georgia native ended with 1,215 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns. He finished the year ranked eighth in the FCS in rushing yards per game (121.5), 15th in total rushing yards, 19th in all-purpose yards (133.0 ypg), 19th in yards per carry (6.5), 20th in rushing TD's (12), 23rd in scoring (7.8 ppg) and 25th in total touchdowns (13).
 
Waller rushed for at least 100 yards in seven of the last eight games. He was a three-time SWAC Newcomer of the Week winner.
 
In addition to All-America Third-Team honors, Waller was also on the HBCU All-America First-Team, SWAC All-Conference First-Team and the SWAC Newcomer of the Year.
 
Waller's season-high was 214 yards against Alabama State on Oct. 6, 2018. He posted a career-long 83 yard rush in the SWAC Championship where he turned in 177 yards and three touchdowns.
