Track Prepares for ULL Relays Saturday

LAFAYETTE, La.
– The Alcorn State University men's and women's track teams continue their outdoor season Saturday at the Louisiana Classics, hosted by Louisiana-Lafayette at the Ragin' Cajuns Soccer and Track Facility.
 
Other teams expected to compete include: Louisiana College, ULM, LSU, Louisiana Tech, Loyola (N.O.), McNeese State, New Orleans, Nicholls State, Southeastern Louisiana, Southern, Southern Arkansas, Tulane, and Xavier (La.).

Alcorn earned a pair of weekly honors as Kemar Cumberbatch and DeKari Courtney were named the men's and women's SWAC Track Athletes of the Week on Tuesday. Cumberbatch set a personal record with a 10.51 in the men's 100-meter dash last Saturday at the McNeese State Cowboy Relays, good for a fourth-place finish. He was also a member of the 4x100-meter relay team that came in third with a combined time of 40.79.
 
Courtney turned in a personal-best time of 14.49 to come in fifth in the women's 100-meter hurdles. She was also fourth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:05.78) and competed in the 4x400-meter relay, finishing fourth (3:48.52).
 
Last week at McNeese, the Braves finished sixth in the team standings and the Lady Braves were fourth.
