THIBODAUX, La. – Riding a three-match winning-streak, the Alcorn State University men's tennis program will make a road trip to Nicholls State at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Lamar at 11 a.m. Saturday and UL-Lafayette at 12 p.m. Sunday.
The Braves (4-9, 4-2 SWAC) started to get hot this past weekend at the second SWAC Round-Up event. They won their last three matches including scores of 4-1 over Jackson State, 4-0 over Mississippi Valley State and 4-1 over Alabama A&M.
At the top of the lineup, Alcorn has been paced by senior
Kert Kilumets and freshman
Stojan Stojanovski. Kilumets has won five consecutive singles matches, while Stojanovski has won four.
Kilumets has played every match this season at No. 1 singles and hoists a 6-4 overall record and 5-0 in conference. He's never lost a conference singles match at Alcorn.
Stojanovski is 5-5 at No. 2 singles and 4-2 in conference. Fellow freshman
Johnatan Parat has also come on strong as of late and posted a 3-1 SWAC singles record at the No. 3 position.
Nicholls (2-7, 0-1 SLC) has a doubleheader sweep over Mississippi Valley 7-0 and 4-0 on its resume to open the season. The Colonels are looking to snap a seven-match skid.
Lamar (3-9, 0-1 SLC) has wins this year over Jacksonville State 4-2, Pacific 4-2 and San Francisco 4-2. The Ragin' Cajuns (14-8) have won three matches in a row including over Southern Miss 4-1, New Orleans 5-2 and UT Rio Grande Valley 4-3.
The Alcorn women's team will be off until Wednesday, March 28 when it takes on Southern Miss.
