Game one was moved up to 4 p.m. Friday, and the two teams will play a doubleheader Saturday starting at 1 p.m.

The Lady Braves (11-29, 8-3 SWAC) are at the top of a very tight SWAC East Division race. Alcorn has a 0.5 game lead on AAMU and a 1.0 game lead on Alabama State.

Alcorn is 21-8 SWAC over the last two years and 32-15 SWAC over the last three years. Both marks are tops in the East Division.

The SWAC Hitter of the Week award went to junior Victoria Tyler. Over five games last week, Tyler hit for a .429 average and .571 slugging percentage. It marked the sixth SWAC weekly award won by Alcorn this year.

Hughes leads the Lady Braves with a .370 batting average and .461 on-base percentage. She's the school's all-time leader in both hits (182) and doubles (34). Hughes also ranks second all-time in school history in RBI's (104), third in runs scored (94), fourth in walks (63) and 11th in triples (6).

Ramsey carries a .351 average and team-high .614 slugging on the season. She's tallied 18 extra-base hits which includes 11 doubles, two triples and five homers. Ramsey is a perfect 11-for-11 in stolen base attempts. She notched an 18-game hitting streak and 20-game on-base streak earlier this year.

The Lady Braves are 9-0 this season when they score at least eight runs. They've used 33 different batting orders this year.

MVSU (10-28, 5-8 SWAC) is 6-3 at home this season and coming off a three-game sweep over Jackson State. They outscored the Lady Tigers 28-7.

Jodeci Afoa-Tuia is the team's No. 3 hitter and bats for a .272 average, .417 slugging and a team-high 20 RBI's. Pitching-wise, the Delta Devils have had five different student-athletes start games for them and none have thrown more than 52 innings on the season. Jezabelle Quintana is 3-3 with a 4.33 ERA to lead the way.

The series marks the final road games on the year for the Lady Braves. They'll conclude the regular season May 3-4 when they host Texas Southern at the Alcorn Softball Complex.
