LORMAN, Miss. – Already familiar with Alcorn State University athletics and the student-athletes on campus,
Jalisa Hunter was named Head Athletic Trainer on June 1, 2018.

Hunter previously served as assistant athletic trainer with Merit Health Natchez and was regularly on campus aiding Alcorn student-athletes. She worked as a contracted athletic trainer that primarily covered the football and baseball programs.

"I'm excited about this position. I can't wait until I get to work with the student-athletes, coaches and athletic administration in this capacity," Hunter said. "I look forward to growing the athletic training program to benefit the student-athletes overall health and well-being."

In Hunter's new role, she'll be overseeing sport medicine coverage for 17 sports while working directly with football and baseball.

Prior to her time at Merit Health Natchez, Hunter was an intern athletic trainer at the University of Texas at Tyler. She worked with the men's and women's basketball programs, in addition to providing coverage to off-season sports seasons and intramural activities.

Hunter completed her Bachelors of Science degree in Athletic Training at University of Texas at Austin. During her time at Texas, she worked with Longhorns football, volleyball, baseball, men's tennis, men's swimming & diving and track & field programs.

An active member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association, Hunter currently holds a national athletic training certification through the NATABOC. She has certification in Corrective Exercise Specialization, CPR/AED, Rock Tape- Performance Movement Techniques, Rock Tape-Fascial Movement taping.
