Smith, Simmons to Represent Braves at SWAC Media Day

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southwestern Athletic Conference released its list of student-athletes who will be speaking at the league's Football Media Day, and seniors Brady Smith and P.J. Simmons will be accompanying head coach Fred McNair for Alcorn State University.
 
The event is set for Friday, July 13 at the recently refurbished Birmingham-Marriott Hotel.
 
Smith, a defensive back from Batesville, Mississippi, started in 11 games last year in the secondary. He was second on the team in tackles with 55 and also broke up seven passes. Smith is one of eight returning starters for Alcorn in 2018.
 
Simmons, a running back from Tallahassee, Florida, rushed for 687 yards and seven touchdowns last season. He averaged 8.6 yards per carry with a long of 64 yards. Simmons was part of an offensive unit that racked up 461.3 yards per game and 237.4 rushing yards per outing in 2017 – both marks were top-10 in the country.
 
SWAC Digital Network commentator Santoria Black will moderate the live coverage in the grand ballroom and will be interviewing head coaches on set.  SDN analyst/personality Gaati Werema will be interviewing student-athletes. The event can be seen on the SWAC's official web site SWAC.org, which will get underway at 10 a.m.live on the SWAC Digital Network.
