VICKSBURG, Miss. – To help promote the 2018 football season, Walmart Vicksburg has partnered with the Alcorn State University department of athletics for the second straight year to host a kick-off pep rally Saturday, Aug. 25 from 10 a.m.-noon at 2150 Iowa Blvd.

"This upcoming pep rally is going to be another great event with Walmart and the Vicksburg community as we are thrilled that we will be kicking off the school year with them in their great city again," said
Derek Horne, director of athletics. "The partnership we have with Walmart continues to grow and we are thankful they continue to support Alcorn and our student-athletes."

Inside, Walmart has worked with the university to expand its selection of merchandise with a section totally dedicated to Alcorn. Â

Football season tickets will be on sale. Furthermore, Alcorn will be selling its 2018-19 media guide for $30 which includes football, men's basketball, women's basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball and soccer all in one book. The publication includes a full historical section and record book for each sport.

Alcorn opens the 2018 football season on the road on Saturday, Sept. 1 at Georgia Tech at 12:30 p.m. EST at Bobby Dodd Stadium. The home-opener will be played the following week on Sept. 8Â at 6 p.m. against Louisiana College at Jack Spinks-Marino Casem Stadium.
