Live Results

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Continuing its indoor season, the Alcorn State University men's and women's track & field programs will compete Sunday at the KMS Invitational at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

The meet starts at 11 a.m. with the men's weight throw and the women's 4x200m relay kicking it off. The invitational will run all day with the final event, the men's 4x400m relay, scheduled for 8 p.m.

Alcorn will look to improve upon its scores from last weekend when it competed in both the Samford Open and Emory Invite. The Braves and Lady Braves combined for 11 top-10 finishes and a pair of podium spots.

A pair of freshmen stood out for the Lady Braves. Kiana Allen was named SWAC Field Athlete of the Week after a third-place finish in Sunday's triple jump. She tallied a score of 11.10m in her first-ever appearance in an Alcorn uniform.

Fellow freshman Shamarah Shannon earned third-place out of 54 competitors in the women's 200m. She clocked in at 24.75 which would have been the second-fastest time ran by a Lady Brave in 2018. It currently ranks third in the SWAC. Shannon followed it up with a top-10 showing out of 61 runners in the 400m with a time of 59.09.

The men have a pair of student-athletes currently ranked in the top-10 in the conference. Freshman Lamaj Curry ranks seventh in the league with an 800m score of 2:01.83, while sophomore Josias Jean is ninth with a 400m time of 50.11.

The meet will be scored by xpresstiming with results found here.
