Alcorn Wraps Up Season At 2019 SWAC Championships

CLINTON, Miss. - The Alcorn State University cross country program's season came to a close at the SWAC Championships Monday morning as both teams ended the season where it began at Choctaw Trails.

"Great effort to end the season," said cross country coach Wesley Stephens. "Titus Kibii ran his best race of the year and we have a lot to look forward to going into the indoor season."

The Braves ran the 8K race with redshirt junior Titus Kibii running the fastest time at 30:47.60 for a 38th place finish. Senior Tyreq Miles was not far behind him at 30:55.20 while junior Peterson Saint-Cyrin was third on the team with a 32:11.00 time.

Sophomores Elliot Pak and Javon Rutledge were the other two male competitors for the purple and gold, running times of 34:35.40 and 40:04.40, respectively.

The men finished ninth with a total of 237 points with an average time of 33:42.72.

Sophomore Makayla Gates concluded her season by pacing the Lady Braves for the fourth consecutive meet with a final time of 22:43.09 and a 44th place finish in the 5K. Junior Hali Jones had the second-best mark on the squad as she ran a 25:14.78 and sophomore Kiana Allen was third among the purple and gold with a 26:57.26.

Freshman Char'davia Anderson (29:04.05) and senior Tymesha Nabors (29:10.57) capped off the Lady Braves' participants.

The women placed 10th with 277 points and averaged a time of 26:37.95.
