LORMAN, Miss. – Garnering national recognition, junior Felix "Triggerman" Harper from the Alcorn State University football program was included on both the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) Watch List and the Walter Payton Award Watch List, announced this week.
Harper was one of 34 student-athletes across the country on the CFPA Watch List, which goes to the National Performer of the Year. He was the only student-athlete from the SWAC included.
The 2019 CFPA FCS National Performer of the Year Trophy is a 22-inch K-9 optic crystal tower with eight-inch crystal football on top. All FCS players are eligible for the award. The award winner will be announced January 15, 2020.

The Walter Payton Award is selected by STATS FCS and goes to the best offensive player in FCS. Harper becomes the third Alcorn student-athlete to be included on the list this year as seniors

De'Shawn Waller were on the preseason list.
The Walter Payton Award Watch List will be scaled down to a select number of finalists in the upcoming weeks.
Harper, from Fairburn, Georgia, currently ranks third in the nation in offensive efficiency (186.1), fourth in points responsible for (20.0 ppg), top-10 in yards per completion (14.8) and top-15 in completion percentage (.656) and passing TDs (20).
Since taking over as the starting quarterback over the last five games in-place of an injured Johnson, Harper has thrown for 1,423 yards, 18 touchdowns and no interceptions.
Harper has won SWAC Offensive Player of the Week three times. He was named the HBCU National Player of the Week winner after the win over Prairie View A&M where he threw for 280 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for a score. Harper also earned a helmet sticker on ESPN College Football Final after the win over Savannah State.
Harper and the Braves will be in action Saturday when they travel to Grambling State for a 2 p.m. kickoff. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN3.
