LORMAN, Miss. – The HBCU All-America Team was announced Wednesday morning, and the Alcorn State University football program was represented by seniors
Michael Ajumobi and
Solomon Muhammad, and juniors
Felix Harper and
Qwynnterrio Cole.
Â
The teams were released by BOXTOROW, and voted on by media members from around the nation that cover HBCU football.
Â
The four student-athletes were tied for the most of any team this year, along with North Carolina A&T. All four of Alcorn's selections were also on the SWAC All-Conference First-Team.
Â
Ajumobi, from Dallas, Texas, started all 12 games at left tackle. The former tight end led the Braves in fewest sacks allowed and was the highest graded offensive lineman this season.
Â
Muhammad, a Birmingham, Alabama native, is the team's leading tackler with 81 on the year. He also has 9.5 tackles for a loss, 2.0 sacks, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. Muhammad won a pair of SWAC Defensive Player of the Week awards.
Â
Harper, a Fairburn, Georgia product, has thrown for 2,613 yards, 30 touchdowns and just eight interceptions. He is the SWAC Offensive Player of the Year winner and a three-time SWAC Offensive Player of the Week honoree.
Â
Cole, from Memphis, Tennessee, leads the defense with five interceptions on the year and is third in tackles with 78. His 0.4 interceptions per game ranks 13th in the FCS.
Â
The Braves will play in the Celebration Bowl for the second year in a row and third time since 2015. They'll take on North Carolina A&T at 11 a.m. (CT) at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta for the HBCU National Championship. The game will be nationally televised on ABC.
